Citizens of the following countries ARE required to be in possession of a pre-arrival visa: Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Chechnya, Croatia,Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Lebanon, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, The Philippines,Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Sri-Lanka, Tadzhikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and all African countries.
Others can buy their visas at the airport in Egypt.
Getting your visa in Egypt
Upon entering the arrivals hall, immediately proceed to one of the bank windows. Visas cost $15 or the equivalent in British pounds, Euros or Canadian dollars. It takes all of two minutes to purchase your visa. You can also change money (buy Egyptian currency) at this window. The visa has changed and is now a full-page self adhesive sticker. Peel off the back, stick it on any available page and then get on the Passport Control line.
Important - Get the visa BEFORE you get on the Passport Control line, otherwise you'll get to the officer, be sent back and have to start all over again. The visa line is usually very short at the beginning because many people make this mistake.
From my own personal experience and that of my friends (US, UK, Canadian citizens), it is much easier to purchase your visa upon arrival in Egypt. I know that many travel agents try to convince people to pay ridiculous fees and get it beforehand, but it is much cheaper and much less time consuming to wait. you will NOT be refused a visa upon landing.
Before you travel, pls check with your local consulate to make sure rules for your particular country have not changed.
