Always remember that the price you see in the first place is not the price that you have to pay.

Do not feel guilty when you ask for discount as it is customary and vey commomd in India to do bargain.bof

Can't say much aboout Don'ts but sexual harrassment is a sensitive issue here.

If you are a guy who wants to talk to a woman you have never met before , you do not approach her and say 'hi '.

You have to find another way to make she feel comfortable to talk to you.

Nice try buddy..... India is really a country with sensitive people. There are more languages than you know would exist, and thereby, a very diverse population. However, as is the case anywhere in the world, if you are cordial, people around you will be equally nice.

Yeah, you are right, bargaining at shops is quite common, but that is limited to small shops only. If possible, try to use your right hand if you need to give or take something from somebody. India is quite cosmopolitan by nature and therefore, you shouldn't have any problems in communicating with the people here.
