India is a land that offers the tourists wonder, beauty, history in one place. The mountains and monasteries of Ladakh, the palms and rivers of Kerala, the beautiful Konkan coast, or the forests and gentle culture of North-East are all wonderful. Tourism is a billion-dollar industry and in India, it generates enormous wealth and large scale employment. Tourism is a lot dependent on the infrastructure available. It is not enough if there are five-star and three star hotels and running trains and flights. Facilities for reservations, tourist information and above all security and safety for every traveler must be ensured. The internet has helped many foreign tourists to plan their tours in India. The tourists can now plan their tours and make their bookings well in advance. There are tourist kiosks everywhere to assist the tourists

A place that is well connected by rail and air is Kerala. There are many tourist attractions here in this South-Indian state. The temple towns and Kerala countryside are famous. Kerala is also famous for its backwaters and house boats. Thrissur is a central district in Kerala that is famous for Vadakkumnathan temple and the surrouinding places. People from all over the world come here to enjoy its architectural grandeur and to witness the annual festival of this temple. The annual “Pooram” festival is conducted every year in the month of April-May. It is grand event that involves the participation of caparisoned elephants and other artistes and musicians. After witnessing this festival, people visit the nearby tourist attractions. The Thrissur town is itself called the “cultural capital of Kerala” and houses the Kerala Kala Mandalam, Kerala Sahitya Academy and Kerala Nataka Academy. The town also has a zoo and archeological museum. The other places around Thrissur include Athirapally and Vazhachal waterfalls, Guruvayur Shri Krishna temple and Cheruthuruthi.

Athirapalli waterfalls are located 65kms from Thrissur and 32kms from Chalakudi. The vazhachal waterfalls are located 68kms from Thrissur and are very close to Athirapalli waterfalls. They are the most famous waterfalls in Kerala that attracts tourists. The waterfalls are located in the Sholayar forest range. What a coincidence! Yesterday I received a mail with fantastic pictures of the waterfall, and today just browsing through this site...now the very name of the thing.

It surely resembles the Niagara Falls in ways more than one. I believe a visit to the lower states of India will give the pleasure of the best of both worlds- hills and backwaters and the mighty oceans.

hi, the waterfalls are no less beautiul than the Niagra Falls.....they are secluded and have great scenic beauty around. A treat for shutterbugs!

Just 78 kilometers from Kochi.

Regards,

Jeev
