During the past few years Bali has seen a pace of development that has been frenetic, despite all of the terrorist setbacks. One side issue has been the establishing of Bali as one of the world leaders for Spas.

It is not just the top end such as the incomparable Como Shambhala at Begawan Giri, a true world leader, but what you get for less than $10, particularly in the Ubud area, is a massage that would cost $100 in western countries. Of course in the tourist areas of Kuta and Nusa Dua there are the enivatable tourist rip-offs, where I believe that some big spas pay agents as much as 50% commission so that they recommend that spa to you, which means that you are paying double what you should be.

The safest way is to use the wonderful Bali spa guide;

www.balispaguide.com

it lists the comparable prices for all spa treatments from the cheap up to the ridiculous

the best way to find a spa at competitive rates would be to get out of your hotel and look around. There are plenty in Bali, and I too agree that agents take the lion's share if you go through them.

However, it would be wise to know whether the spa is an "all inclusive". And it does matter of you want only massage for rejuvenation.

your information would be of great help to future travelers to Bali I believe.

regards.

Yeah buddy, I agree. Infact, I did the same and went for some great massages. however, I won't recommend any one in particular. Do check if the spa offer pure massage or.........some extras! You know what i mean....
