It depends on what you would like to see because i think
Hokkaido is beautiful all year .

If you go there in summer (peak season) you will see the lavenders and sunflowers but in winter it's also very very beautiful. wink_smilewink_smilewink_smilewink_smile

I've heard in Hokkaido's very cold in winter, isn't it? It could be less than -20 Celsius degrees. shocked As well, every places and trees will be covered with snow. The tree doesn't have leaves anymore in winter. It should be in black and white mode only. The winter can make someone like me feeling blue. cry_smile Better go in summer or spring. wink_smile

Hokkaido in the winter is great for skiing. In the summer there is the Shiretoko Koen park. It is an enormous nature reserve. I have never in my life seen so many deer, and bear, and fox more wildlife than I thought possible. I stayed at a number of traditional rio-kan. Unfortunately, non of the good ones were from a travel book in either Japanese or English. The best one I found was recommended by a local person after I arrived. I do recommend a car with a good GPS system.

So, you mean to say it would be best not to book any hotel in advance! being a global traveler....I should also try out spot booking. Thanks for the info anyway.

Regards.
