I think the best time to visit is spring ,you will see sakura or cherry blossoms bloom (in March and April) shocked and this is the main reason for the travelers to visit Japan. mangamangamanga

The spring is beautiful, about 60 degree weather. Remember though, even though it's a very big island, it's still an island! Very windy, especially at night. Regardless of the season, bring an umbrella. Americans don't really use them for some reason but not having one in Japan is seen as very odd. And you'll want really great walking shoes, because most of the trains are standing only, and you'll be walking a lot!
