Hotel Palace of the Golden Horses, Mines Kuala Lumpur, is a horrible,
horrible hotel. Many of their foreign workers hardly spoke any local language and
did not understand much English. The whole hotel is infested with
mosquitoes. It’s a rundown and badly maintained building. The Mines
Wonderland has already closed down for a year. There’s hardly anything to do.

When we checked in to our supposedly cleaned up suite, our daughter
took off her shoes and ran around the room. To my horror, I found a
pretty big needle on the floor carpet, along with used rubber bands,
cigarette butts and tissues! The 1st night of stay, there was loud
knocks on our room door at 2am! I woke up and was a little disturbed
by the continuing knocking. When I got to the door to peek through
the door hole, a man was seen walking away. Half hour later, the
knock was even louder. This time, my husband woke up and opened the
door. It was the wrong room for room service! Despite “Privacy Please” posted on the door. The 2nd night, it
happened again! This time another worker rang the doorbell at
midnight and when we opened the door, the worker was there to spray
insecticide!!!! It is unbelievable. When we complained to the duty
manager that very night, he apologetically mentioned that staff
playing internal pranks on each other could be one of the causes.....???!!!

And we paid RM690 a night for such horrible experience. We
complained to the management that this was totally unacceptable for a
supposedly 5 star ranking hotel. They (specifically, the General Mgr,
Diana Lee - daughter of owner) later came back to tell us they will
give us an upgrade on the grounds that we go back there again to stay
and pay for another 2 nights to get an upgrade on the 3rd night!!!
Wow, what clever, but cheap, lowdown tactic. Need we say more??
To think that they try to make us go back, pay for 2 more night to get a lousy "offer" is truly insulting and infuriating.
