The unrest due to political uncertainty has arisen mostly in the center of Bangkok.

Some contries have warned people not to visit the city.

If you are overseas, think twice before deciding to go there as the situation is still unclear.

Should you NEED to go , see http://www.bangkokpost.com/ for most recent news so you can stay there safely.

If you are in Bangkok , avoid pleace where protesters gather and talk or criticize of political ideas as least as possible as it may trigger more anger.

Thai perple are famous of kindness and hospitality so let's hope that things will get better very soon.

Hey Aaron,

I'm now in BKK and seems that people here live their lives as normal. You will not know that there is a protest taking place unless you watch TV......lol2

I also live in BKK and agreed with Daphne, we live as normal in Bangkok seems like nothing happened, just the traffic jam near to the place where the protest takes place. Though the State of Emergency Declared says we cannot gather in group more than 4 people, no one seems to obey! teeth_smile

I went to where the protest takes place once, it seems like fun fair. There're food <not selling but give u for free> wink_smileand lots of souveniers and not as bad as i think.

Anyway if u r a foreigner, u should not go to that area. teeth_smile

The state of emergency in BKK, which really never meant that much here, was lifted some time ago. The protesters are still staying at Govt. House. But the situation is calm, and in 99.9% of Bangkok, life is going on as usual...

Well, I should say, almost as usual. Right now in late Sept., it is quiet season here, and apparently the tourism levels are down below normal because of the political problems. So it's a good time to look for and negotiate for bargains, plus the weather now is pretty good. Heading toward my favorite time of year in BKK.
