Read the book "The cathedral of the Sea" from Ildefonso Falcones. You will understand how people lived in the Middle age. You can take a guided tour around the area of the Cathedral to see where it is all about. In some streets in barcelona, you can really feel the Middle age ... very nice to see !
I did take the tour and really learned a lot about the life in the XIV ° century .
While I was in Barcelona , I rent an apartment in the Born area, near the cathedral with the agency cocoonbarcelona , very friendly apartment.
In an apartment you have more space than in an hotel room, interesting prices.

hi, i believe a lot can learned and understood from the numerous festivals in Barcelona. One of them is much similar to valentine's Day, but it's held on April 23, when men give roses to women, and they in turn give books to them.

Another amusing spectacle is the Corpus Christi Day, when fontains in churches are decorated with flowers and, an egg is placed on top of the fountain which almost dances due to the force of the water.

Really an interesting history !

Both the insights were really helpful pieces of information. Spain, as I know, is a colorful country. Most of the Spanish people I have come across are fun-loving and outgoing. I really like their attitude towards life. It's more "take it as it comes". Also, an interesting thing I observed is the existence of a very beautiful culture and customs.

Regards.
