We have just returned from our family vacation to Adelaide. We enjoyed a lot everyday, with the first two days just lazying around the city. On the third day, we decided to visit the national parks. We had a plenty of time, so we divided the tours in several days to explore the parks- Cleland National Park, Morialta Conservation Park, Belair National Park, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary, and a privately owned park. We, however enjoy the most at the Belair National Park due to a number of recreation facilities. Afterall, it was a family vacation! Apart from the national parks, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens are also worth a visit. We wish to go there agin next year, and for a longer duration.

The Belair National Park is quite big, around 835 hectares. The park is around 13 kilometers from Adelaide city center, and takes almost a 20-25 minute drive to reach. It's not exactly a wildlife sanctuary, but more like a mix of cultural, recreational and natural features. oh yes....there are wonderful hiking trails in the park.
We were in Adelaide on a family vacation, and were on a very leisurely mood, so cannot actually comment how many days you might require. However, the place is so beautiful, a single traveler can try it out for 4 days. I hope the info gives you a rough idea.

great info buddy, but tell me....can I rent bikes and roam about the city and its outskirts. I am die-hard biker and can't think of anything to travel on other than cruiser bikes. More of an ego issue perhaps
